Baderman
Island Resorts, alongside with Boardman Management group, has develop a
curriculum available for their employees, no matter their level. The courses are taught by Boardman Corporate
University and are available on online and face-to-face formats. The purpose of this university is to create opportunities
for employee learning while supporting training for administrative positions
(managers and supervisors). The courses
are at no cost for the employees to increase retention.
Technology provided for Baderman Island employees is very
limited. There are many areas where employees could benefit from training. The different areas that can benefit are lodging, food services, event
center, and operations. From the information provided on the website I can see
that in the food services department there are several restaurants that are
independently managed, but no specific training is offered by Baderman Island.
An initial technology training could benefit the restaurant management
personnel. From there they can decide what other technology they want to
implement.
The event center is another place that can benefit from training.
The event center is managed by the organization and is an important part of
Baderman Island because many people staying there and people who are not
lodging there hold special events in this center. Technology information is
vague, but an event center is a place where technology is always used and
sometimes things can go wrong in the middle of an event. Technology used in
event centers usually includes sound, lights, and tools to register guests and
personal items that they might have.
How does the
organization manage those technologies?
In addition to the technical assistance the island resort
needs to provide to Baderman employees, there should also be such assistance to
serving and correcting system upgrades and failures. First, the Boardman Group
will need to establish a set standard for the new system and what will be
expected of the employees trained by it. The standard will create the foundation
for how the training will be created and the employees will learn from the
training.
Next there will need to be a team to create the new system
tools and training guides. Using the standards given by the Boardman Group, the
new system tools and training environment should be created for the enhancement
of the system. Once the system has been upgraded with the new tools, new
training manual will need to be created. The manual will best provide written
information on the tools, provide help when needed and troubleshooting
information to fix basic and/or common system troubles. Then the manual and a
training environment should be used to train the associates.
How does the
organization address concerns such as the type and size of bandwidth and the
capability of implementing Web 2.0 tools?
Baderman Island Resort offers classes face to face or online
for employee development. Online courses are offered using similar asynchronous
technologies to blackboard. For face to face courses, the resort convention
center can hosts up to 300 students. Information on specific technologies
available in the convention center is limited; no specific amenities are
listed.
The convention center is managed by resort administration. However,
any courses held in the center would be managed by Boardman Management Group.
Supplemental technologies used in the room will need to be provided by
Boardman. In addition, Boardman will host all technologies for online classes.
Specific information on the implementation of web 2.0 tools
and the handling of other technological concerns is limited. As a service
provider for the resort, Boardman Management Group would need to provide the
technical assistance to Baderman employees. They would need to make clear the
technological necessities for each of the classes and ensure that the resort is
equipped with the proper bandwidth for face to face classes.

These are great tips-very easy to implement for busy teachers. The right brain students will love this! Thanks for sharing!
